The Calm After the Storm

This weekend, I was away in the woods and had the opportunity to do a couple of big adventures.

Long days, high elevations, summits, and some outdoor workouts since I bring a little gym equipment with me.
What I noticed is that I have a lot of energy, and I think we all do naturally. If that energy is not put to use, it can become angst or anger, instead of creativity or physical expression, because it has to be channeled somewhere!
We need to use this energy, although we're all loving chillin’.
But what I really love is the calming sense after a hard effort. After a long writing session or a good hard workout.
Hence the name of this blog, “The Calm After the Storm.”
Often, we talk about “The Calm Before the Storm.” And I love that too: the focus, preparation, and intention setting before entering something.
But the calm after the storm is well deserved. It is bliss, peace, beauty.
It is why a dinner after a long day feels so good. Or why it is nice for people to indulge in something (drinks, reading, food) towards the end of the day.
I generally feel like I don't have something on my mind. I don't feel like I need to execute something, and I'm naturally more peaceful. This applies to more than just physical endeavors.

A huge element is work. After a long, focused workday with a lot of creative output and analytical execution, I feel great. It's one of the most calming, peaceful sensations that I have.
What can you do to create pride, peace and calm in your life?
A theme right now in my life is developing the skill of pattern recognition. I'd like to challenge everybody to recognize when they feel the best and what activities, environments, and people support that.
